![]() The performance by The Killers at the the 3,000-seat theater emulated a sense of intimacy often lost in large-scale venue and stadium shows. A confetti blast kicked off the set, and fans roared the lyrics from hit songs “Sam’s Town,” “When You Were Young” and “Smile Like You Mean It.” They also danced and swayed in whatever way Flowers commanded. The band’s performance was part of The Killers’ World Tour and partly in support of what was supposed to be a new album, until last month when Flowers told The Times that it was dead in the water.ĭespite no new album on the horizon, the feeling in the venue between fans and the band was high energy from the get-go. “When we play casinos, we always feel a little bit at home,” lead singer Brandon Flowers told the packed Yaamava’ Theater and gave an anecdote about his first gig being at The Aladdin, now known as Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. The hit from Sinatra, who rose to prominence playing Las Vegas casinos, was the perfect nod and introduction for The Killers, who also hail from Sin City. Then, Frank Sinatra’s “Luck Be A Lady” blasted through the venue speakers as fans eagerly waited.
